6 month old Teva Jo

Meet my Muse.  Teva Jo…  AKA:  Poopy Fussy Pushy Pants, Teva the Diva, Queen LaTeva, Fuzzy Butt, and of course Princess T.

Teva (TEEVAH– yes, like the shoe)  is a 3 year old Golden Retriever, shaved of her typical golden locks because she is a ‘ Tom Boy’ dog.  “Celebrate all things stinky, sticky and dirty because there is always a river near by”  is her motto.

Blessed with this bundle of hilarity at 6 weeks of age I found out that just when you think there couldn’t be another “The One”, there was.   I picked Teva out of a liter at 4 weeks of age.  Always having resuced pups and dogs from shelters or vet clinics this was a first for me.  How in the heck do you determine a dogs personality at 4 weeks of age?  I crafted the idea that I would put each puppy on my lap upside down and rub their belly.  If they squirmed, squealed or did anything that startled they were not the one for me.

Dreaming of sticks, balls, rivers and pinecones... and Turkey poop

Five puppies into this grandiose idea I pulled Teva from her mom “Teak” of Twisp and lay her on my lap.  (Note: She never woke up during the process.)  When I began rubbing her belly she moaned and sighed and relaxed even more.  I found my puppy.  A sleeper myself I enjoyed the fact that she loved her sleep and was happy regardless.

Now, to this day, I know that Teva and I were meant for each other.  Our sleep patterns are the same- well so says my husband- we make noises, shift, kick and often growl.  Soul mates in sleep and play. (I’m happy to say that Teva does win the prize for drooling.)

Because of her love of the outdoors, Teva gets me outside every single day.  There is no weather watching in her book. If there is dirt and the sky isn’t falling then we must go play.  She brings me to giggles daily with her antics and expressive eyebrows.  More importantly, she continues to remind me of the less serious side of life and how important it is to make the most of every day.

"Put on your sock and let's go!"
